It’s that time of the year I’ve decided to check out WordPress again — try a couple different themes, get familiar with better plugins and maybe even build a proper website — LastofAvari 2.0.
I mean I could start posting verdict cuts of my Pico-8 Adventures YouTube series with screenshots as posts here and I could still have a page or two dedicated to some of my old bydlocoding stuff.
We’ll see how it goes. One thing that most definitely was a bad idea was to install Hugo static website builder with all of its dependencies and then try to get Hinode template on my local Debian [/GNU Linux] machine. I technically got it working and even figured out basics of Git and Github, but then completely failed to make the theme run in the dark mode.
While it supported both light and dark modes, it did so through Bootstrap and apparently that meant you couldn’t really force it load dark, the best one could do was to turn on light/dark switch and then let the user make their choice.
Tired of that bullshit, I abandoned the idea and returned to WordPress to try a different theme here — Blocksy. It looks pretty clean, but not too primitive and too locked down in a free version.
I guess we’ll see if my estimations will end up being correct.
